Need some opinions on radiators - currently I am running a RadFLow with black magic fan - just not enough. Due to recent uncontrollable circumstances laughing1 I am forced to redo a good portion of my front end. Plan is to in the process make accommodations for a larger radiator than the stock TJ replacement size. There are so many out there like Ron Davis and such but tought I would get some opinions on type - size and fan size.

Thanks

I am running a Northern aluminum radiator from Seco in mine all the way to the back. I am also running a Stewart Hi flo manual water pump on the motor and runs about 175-180, unless the squirrels under the hood get restless, and then it gets up to about 190 or so. Not much money, just not the bling name like Ron Davis or Be Cool. I am running a Derale fan/ shroud unit that I have wired to run all the time, but should probably wire it thermostatically so not to run endlessly. Good to go. thumb.gif

You can spend a ton of cash on high dollar radiator. I would give Jimmy at EOR a shout as he uses an low buck setup, with a custom shroud and a good fan and has good luck with it. I was going to go that route, but mine seems to be doing well. I have a very old 22X19 Ron Davis with shroud and a badass Spal Fan, it ran 180 during the MM race until the fan wiring came undone. That was my biggest problem area before and the SPAL fan has really helped it. I also have a Meziere Electric WP, not cause I want it but because there is not room for a manual pump.

Thanks for the replies.

Matt I will give Jimmy or Matlock a call as well

Yeah I think you could get a good setup that works for less than $400, rad, fan and shroud. Definately spend money on a good fan like a SPAL. I found mine on ebay for like $120 shipped.

Greg - Matt What temp thermostat you guys running

Mine is stock, 195 I think. Same motor as you. If I let the fan tstat control it, it rill get to 210 then the fan cuts on and it drops to 195, then off. Just keeps cycling like that. I have I let the fan run non-stop it is 180..

Alot depends on your fuel injection program. I am running a 180 t-stat right now and it is running good. I had a 160 and it would not let the engine get hot enough to tune the fuel- air mixture. I don't know **** about tuning the computer's and don't pose to either. But, the guys who do will tell you that it is important you get the engine up to the correct temperature before they can properly tune it. :dunno:

I have a Howe dual pass to cool my rig. I think I paid about 240 for it and bought a taurus fan from a junkyard for 10 bux, keeps my rig at 190-200 depending on how hard I run it.
