This will be the sixth year that I have put on Rally in the Valley and we have changed it up some in hopes of making it more fun for everyone.
The event will take place in Booneville, Arkansas (southeast of Fort Smith) at Rock Creek Racing and Recreation ORP on May 4-7, 2017
Cost: $30 for anyone 13 and older, $10 for 12 and under, free primitive camping, no charge for vehicles of any kind
Race day is on May 6th, registration at 7:30am, driver meeting at 8:30am, racing starts at 9:00am
Events: Main Race, Freestyle Competition, Barbie Jeep racing, and Midnight Mayhem
Main Race (2 courses, lowest combined time wins) consists of pro class (raced in a total 3 or more series races anywhere else) and an amateur class (2 or less races in an established offroad series) with a big and small tire class in each of those. Big tire class will be tires marked bigger than 40" on the sidewall and small tire class will be any tire marked 40" or smaller on the sidewall (so more or less a U4 class and a bouncer class). SxS/UTV class will not be separated by pro/am, you will all race together and it is an unlimited tire size class. Each of the 5 classes will pay out 60/30/10 based on each individual classes number of entries. Pro Class Entry Fee is $100, Amateur Class Entry Fee is $50. Your entry fee covers you for the main race, as well as Freestyle and Midnight Mayhem if you wish to compete in those events. There will be a $500 bonus for first place in each class. Helmet, race harnesses, fire extinguisher, and full cage or hard top/doors will be required to race. See website and event page on Facebook for more details.
Freestyle Competition will give drivers 10 minutes (or maybe they only need 1, that's up to the driver) to put on a show for the crowd on a difficult, but not impossible hill. Big air, big saves, and good driving are the keys to winning. We will pick guest judges from the crowd to help us determine the winner of a $3,000 prize that will be given to the Freestyle Champion. Helmet, harnesses, fire extinguisher, and full cage are required. See website and event page on Facebook for more details.
Barbie Jeep Racing is self explanatory and we usually get $500+ from the crowd to go to the winner. This year we will have finish line judges and it will be SINGLE ELIMINATION. We will draw for racing order before we start and you will be paired up based on what number you draw.
Midnight Mayhem will take place Saturday night at midnight at the shale pit and is a high jump/freestyle/hill climb event. We will have judges to choose the winner of $1,500 based on jumping and climbing the steepest hills. Each driver will get 10 minutes to put on a show. Helmet, harnesses, fire extinguisher, and full cage are required. See website and event page on Facebook for more details.
There's a ton more info, as well as pictures, on the website at www.rallyinthevalleyoffroad.com and on the Facebook event page.
Hope to see a lot of folks there, it's a great time whether you're competing, watching, or just wheeling the park all weekend.
