Looking to upgrade my rockwell shafts to either rcv's or just go chromolly for my rear axle. It is a steerable axle and I run 47 ltb's. Any thoughts?

Thats a money question you get wat you pay for stock cromo replacements are twice as strong rcvs are 5 ton strong with a hefty price tho

What kind of price is the rcvs running on the 2" shafts for rockwells and do they have the life time warranty on em If anyone knows

Depends on who you call. ;D

The RCV's for the rockwells retail for $3995.00. Their standard shaft is going to be the 47 spline version, but they are going to be available with 16 or 40 spline inners too. They would have the same no questions asked lifetime warranty that all RCV axles come with.

RCV's policy is that their shafts are not allowed to be sold for any less than 5% below retail. So the cheapest you should be able to find the rockwell shafts is $3795.25.

Dana 44OS, Dana 44, Dana 60, Rockwell.
If you go 47 spline then you'll have to go elsewhere for the spool as I don't believe RCV is done with their version yet.
Thanks,

I'm wondering this also I can get oversons shipped ready to bolt in all machine work all done locker or spool and shipped back to me with the big heavy duty u joints in em for what the rcvs cost for just shafts talked to randy yesterday he has em in stock ready to go and some new **** about to drop

Pm me his price if you don't mind, that's the route I want to go in my rocks.

Anybody have the measurement of the RCV Rockwell bell handy?

I picked up a 2011 Superduty 60 (knuckles will fit 1550 u-joints) and was wondering if the Rockwell RCV would fit through the knuckle

1480 D60 shaft in the 2011 knuckle. Plenty of room for a bigger joint.

for reference, here is the same shaft ina 99-04 style knuckle (what all the aftermarket knuckles are based off of)

the axle shaft bearing in the late model unit bearings is big. ~1.773" ID, so you could run a 40 spline shaft easy.

If you replaced the bearing with a bushing, you could run 2" shafts through the UB.

It would be kinda pointless to run 47 spline stubs, because you still have a HP60 center section, and the best you can do with that is a 40 spline spool and JANA 76 kit with HP70 35 spline pinion Currie gears.

But you could always cut these outers off and put em on an Dana 80 center.

just looking at options of running BIG shafts with a BIG center sections using stock knuckles/C's/brakes/etc

Rumor has it the Rock RCV shafts will fit in the F450 knuckle.

This is not an F450 knuckle, I think it may hold the same size shaft. My axle is from a SRW F250/350.

There is definietly enough room for a much larger steering joint than a lil ol' 1480 :flipoff1:

Here is a pic of a F450/F550 knuckle, stock 10 lug unit bearing (has been swapped for a SRW 8 lug bearing in this pic) and stock 1550 shafts.
