Picked up a late 70's Dodge motorhome for the motor and trans., gonna end up scrappin the thing. Are all rear 60's created equally? It's a dually set up but that can be changed right?
What do I need to know about this axle?
Thanks

What other parts are available??? I might be interested in pulling some stuff off of it for my bus...

is it a d60 or d70?

Is it normal 8 lug or ten lug?

width wms to wms?

If it's dually and out of a motor home it's likely to be a D70 unless it was a tiny motor home. Scrape all the paint off of the passenger side axle tube right next to the diff and look for the BOM number. It should be a six digit number, with a possible dash and an extra number at the end. Post up that number and someone can find the specs for you.

Thats what I thought too. I have never myself had a dually 60 rear. I figure theres probably a few out there but too common or at all maybe.

spindle size is the only diff....small ones are the same size nut as a d44 front...worthless because a 35 spline axle wont fit...boring leaves nothing.

I'll crawl under it when I get home. It's a little rig maybe 22', looks like the R/E thats under my 73 dodge pick up. Pretty sure it's 8 lug
If a buddy doesn't want the inards I'll post up here, fridge isn't working but the stove, furnace and water pump are all good.

Crawled under the pig. B cast into the 3rd member a couple inches back from the pinion. Off to the pass. side it either says 70 or OL, an 8 on the webbing and 278-78 on the lil tag. Backing plate to backing plate is 58" (ish) and its 8 lug.
So I'm guessing the OL is really 70, worth keepin or good trading material?
Dan

Still no BOM number there in what you posted. The BOM number is on the axle tube itself, passenger side facing the rear. Scrape the paint off with a wire wheel or wire brush and find the six digit number.

It sounds like it's a 70 though.
