Im looking for a locker. I have a Ford 8.8 rear end and am just looking for a rear locker right now. I run 33's and stock gearing. My yj is a daily driver and i dont want it making alot of noise. I was thinking ox locker but its pretty expensive.

What do you guys think

not wanting noise and not wanting to spend a lot of money are next to impossible. Sounds like you need to save your money for an ARB or learn to ignore the sound and get a detroit

detroits are awesome, except they have funny quirks with onroad driving. If you really want no noisy or quirks save for an ARB air locker.

You got 2 options arb or spool anything else will be quirky and make noises.

Detroits can be a bit quirky but not very noisy. They'll pop every so often but they aren't nearly as noisy as a Lock-wrong or similar.

Yeah, my Detroit is pretty quiet. And the quirks are nothing you can't get used to.

x2..... in a rig with a longer wheel base than a CJ5 and an auto tranny it would not be too bad. SWB Jeep w/manual trans makes a detroit interesting sometimes on wet roads :redneck:

The lock right in my YJ makes noise and jerks and pops but it's a good solution until you can afford a real locker. Not having to mess with gear setup is another huge advantage. If you are already doing gear setup though then I would definately go another route, detroit, ox, or ARB.

If your planning on running those 33's for awhile id go with the aussie locker or a lockrite. For the money you cant beat them. Of course if money is no object than the ARB is the only way to go. But what do I know all my diffs are open. :D

I second the Aussie from what i have heard they are much quieter then the lock right and they are inexpensive as well.
