Just a quick question I have an 8.8 and a 30 in my jeep have the new carrier for the 30 and the gears for both to change over 4.88's. How much would you think a fair price to just change out the gears and set up the gears? Just reading through everything looks like to do it right I'll most likely spend more in tools than just to have it done. Any advice is appreciated.:redneck:

Thanks

Kevin

Buckley..the gears are new in box yukons and I didn't order the install kit yet because wasn't sure how I wanted to approach it yet.

Thanks,

Kevin

I advise getting the install kits. New bearings are always nice to use when installing new gears...nothing sucks worse than having one of the old bearings that may have 'looked' fine take a crap, and ruin the gears....just food for thought.:awesomework:

Honestly I just used a digital micrometer, torque wrench, and basic hand tools. That and a whole lot of patience. Really it isn't as hard as it is tedious, but from what I have heard the going bench cost is 300 an end. That means pulled out of your truck and set on their bench.

thats about right on the cost, at the shop i work at anyways. we actually charge about $350 on the bench. if your'e mechanically inclined you could probably do it yourself with some patience :awesomework:. if you do set them up yourself when you do it take pics and post them so people can tell you whether it looks good or not if you're not comfortable making the call yourself
