is there some trick to mount these. A friend made some awesome beadlocks using reverse center rims with rockstomper bead rings. thay are sweet except there is no way i can figure to strech the tire over the rim.

the reverse center part is killing us as the smaller dia undercut is too far away from the rim edge.

we first tried a 39.5 radial and destroyed the bead of the tire. it will never go on that rim from that side.

then we tried a 37" MTR. it was worse than the iroc....:wtf:

is there a trick i havent thought of?

Just like sex, you need lubrication; in tires its nicknamed gorilla snot, but some dawn soap and just a little bit of water will work, then set the first bead on kneel on the side closest to you and throw your weight on the top...
or just go to schwab.:looser:

Schwab would have a field day with these.

ok heres what i have learned:

two large tire irons have more power than the hyd machines.

it depends on the minor diameter of the dropped center. there are different dimentions for different rims...

if the dropped center measures 12.5 inch on a 8" rim with reversed centers it can be done.

if the drop center measures 12.5 inch on a 10" reversed center rim it cannot be done. period the tire will be destroyed.

if the drop center measures 13" or more on a reversed center 8 inch rim it cannot be done...period. the tire bead will be destroyed.

this is from a thread on pirate and are words from scott at rockstomper.

did ya get the tires on?

no it cannot be done with any machine or prybar it will destroy the tire. they have 13" drop centers.

actually the bead lock has nothing to do with mounting the tires on the rims. you just can not use them as beadlocks because you cannot either:

A, mount them from the front side, (cannot be done)

B, mount them from the back (easy to do) then you cannot strech the front back off.

they would actually make good rims as he welded a larger safety bead on the back side (skinny side) and with the huge wide part the outside would never lose a bead so these would be excellant wheeling rims just cannot use them as beadlocks. this thread explains it really well. you have to filter out the bulshit like always , look for scotts comments.:;

trust me i have dealt with beadlocks and have a vast supply of Hand Body and Tire soap on hand....we use tire slime from the local ford dealer. i have a tire mounting surface mounted in the ground and a bunch of guys with big tools.:haha: it aint happening. i guess it all depends on the dia of that dropped center.

A few years back I helped a buddy deal with this same thing and destroyed a tire too. What finally did the trick was to heat the tire up with a space heater and then mount it with the help of a tire machine and lots of lube. It was not fun at all but it go the job done. I think they were 8" rims but I have no idea what the drop center size was.
