So I finaly made it to Rimrock. People had been telling me that I'd love it there for years and we finaly went and let me say, they were right! Those trails are f'n BAD! It's like naches but steeper. The montra of the weekend was it's not 90 degrees, but it's 88. It was suuuuuper dry. Dryer than normal aparently. This made hills realy loose and a lot more dificult than usual, this was the first time I have ever had to winch in eastern wa in the summer, and I had to winch a lot. Just not on me. We had a bronco 2 with us that shouldnt have been there. It had no roll cage, no winch limeted slips f/r:puke: and 33" TXRs. Every time there was any kind of incline I had to pull him up and it got realy old. I also had to turn around a few times in areas that should not be turned around in. Eventualy we ended up leaving the bronco on rock slide overnight and geting it on mon morning.

Lastly the weekend did not start good to say the least. Friday evening Larry Fox of the dirty 13 was killed in a rolover on chicken ****. Our group was there with some of the dirty 13 so they could show us around. We were all involved with the recovery and is definatley the worst thing I have ever seen wheeling. I almost packed up and went somewhere else. Using you'r wheeler as a herse is not cool to say the least.

But we stayed and had a great time on the trails anyway. I did not get to run as many as I wanted to due to Lary's roll and later breakage isues in our group, but I will definatley be back.

Here's some pics.

That's all for now. Mabey Thecableguy will post more, RIGHT?

Nice pics.

We are all very sorry to hear about Larry. That has to be the shittiest thing ever. Especially getting his rig out after the fact. So sad.

He will be missed.

I would also like to say thanks, for sharing your pics and experience from this past weekend. I'm glad you guys were still able to have a good time even after such a horrible accident... thanks again...

WHy does evryone insist on running Pucker backwards? You have to winch up that steep ass hill when you cross over the little creek right?
Anyway glad you were able to salvage a bit of a good time out of such a awful tradgedy.

No, that hill is totaly drivable. It just takes some throtle. The only hard spot is the roots at the bottom.

So sad to hear about Larry. I bet recovering his rig was an awful task afterwards, especially for the guy driving. :( My heart goes out to his family and especially everyone who was there with him in his last few moments this last weekend. I can see why many packed up and went home afterwards.

Was there any word on what the cause of the accident was or why he was killed? Just from the one pic, it doesn't appear like his cage failed. Was he belted in or just the lap belt or not belted at all or what? I don't want to sound too morbidly curious, but these types of things (rollovers) happen, and if there's any way at all any of us can learn from a mistake or deficiency in his protection and possibly build our rigs with this type of scenario in mind, I think we'd all like to know. I don't like hearing about these things and I hope nobody here ever has to go through that (again).

did your friend with txrs try going up 637 short and dirty, i noticed some txr tracks had slide off the trail trying to make it up right at the beginning

from what we could tell, is that he was belted in, just with a lap belt and the upper part of his body came outside the cage and got pinched between the jeep cage and a tree.

hey TB-F
sorry about bringing the stranger to rimrock but he made it sound like his bronco was all set up and he had been doing this kind of wheeling for years. It wasn't untill i met him to drive over that i realized the horable truth

here are some of my pics from rimrock

Too much power will do that to you

Another side affect of too much power. This is a new type of suspension that we are trying, its called block and straps

Me trurning my self around on pucker ridge with my winch only beacuse i broke either the main shaft in the t-case or the crawler adapter between the cases

Thanks for the extra info on Larry's roll cableguy. That's a really sad reminder about how lap belts are simply not enough in a lot of cases in a wheeling rig. :booo:

Wow... I bet THAT was fun.:omg:

HS...if you long wheelbase full body guys are gettin through Otterslide (Pucker ridge)? It must be opened up quite a bit from when I used to run it? The trees were pretty tight for my CJ5, 10+ years ago.

And Greeny actually drove the jeep back to camp under its own power

It was getting a little hot with no waterpump/fan/alternator belt though.

Amazingley the super crushed optima in the jeep still worked!

no the trails are still tight but my truck is tree hugger and likes to touch as many trees as it can going down the trail

Meh, oh well. I wasn't anoyed un till beaver tail, then it started getting old. We shure broke in Arizona right though, he's either never gona wheel again, or build the hell out of something. Calmest person ever riding in my truck while bombing fire roads at a high rate of speed:D Too bad you broke, the rest of the trail was killer and the ol' radio flyer:haha: would be lookin a bit more mangled too.

Still nervous about pucker ridge? lol!
