There is a gal in tacoma named Stefanie Rhone who has a 40 acre yard of nothing but 2 1/2 ton and 5 ton trucks, parts, tires and wheels. PM me if you want her number. The only thing to look for on them is that the steering axles have the Spicer syle u-joint axles rather than the crappy Bendix or Rezepa styles that will break far easier.
Well if you can't find a deal out here let me know and I will see if the guy I got mine from has more but he is in Landcaster Ca and they go for $1050 with a U-joint front
just thought I'd add to the thread. There's a H1 tub listed in the for sale section, if you follow the link provided it takes you to a US Gov't Liquidation site. I saw some top-loader axles on the site that were down in Fort Lewis, its an auction style site so there's a chance of scoring them pretty cheap.
I have a set under my bronco, if I dont get any bites on selling the whole rig I would like to sell the axles, prefferably with the wheels and tires as a package, let me know if you are interested, I am in norcal (redding)
www.govliquidation.com - they have the contract from the DOD to sell their stuff. If you search on stuff just in Washington you can find top loaders without much trouble at Fort Lewis (Save freight).
Right now, I've ONLY seen rears there, no front (steering) setups. However, you can save enough if you are patient to make it very worthwhile.
Contact them, find out when you can view the axles and check for the items above regarding U-Joints - you'll need to check in to get on the base - current insurance and drivers license (no exceptions).
After that, it's pretty easy and they will let you have a look at the axles in the boxes. Then you bid on the ones you want - when you win you take them away. Sometimes they have a guy with a forklift and he'll drop it onto a truck for you
