roller/hawse fairlead

whats the difference between a roller and a hawse fairlead?

from what ive read hawse is for synthetic rope and roller is for cable. i think the cable tears up hawse

a steel hause can be used for either, the rollers tear up the synthetic line, although the hause can get a little grooved by a steel cable.

generally speaking hause for rope, roller for cable.

they make some hauses out of some pretty soft stuff now days so watch what you get.

an aluminium or composite hause would be destroyed by a steel cable in a short time.

yes rollers are exactly that and a hawse is a peice of material witha slot for the rope
