what causes it? i have been watching some diesel vids on youtube, and i notice that all of the trucks that are making big power numbers are blowing a lot of smoke. i think someone told me that it is unburned fuel?

Ah! Good explanation.when you overfuel a diesel, significant power gains are achieved by combusting the easy to burn off hydrogen from the diesel first and leaving the longer burning carbon molocules to roll out the tailpipe.
