So I did some buying before I did a lot of thinking which may have screwed me up.

Would the ruffstuff truss be to high for a tj that has a 60/10.25 combo? I'm not after it sitting extremely high nor a belly dragger.

You can modify that truss and flatten it out a bit. Did that on my buggy to get it much lower and clear stuff. I lowered mine until it touched the top of the differential.

What's the advantage of a full length truss like artec? it won't be flying through the air or anything.

A full length truss will help the axle tubes from bending or breaking out of the case center section. Short trusses that only span the case center allow for link mounts but don't really help strengthen the axle housing that much. It will help some but not as much as a full length truss.

Re: Re: RuffStuff Trusses

So am I better off selling the ruffstuff truss since it's going under a tj and not a buggy to where there is sheetmetal above the truss? Then go with a full width one?

Re: Re: RuffStuff Trusses

I've seen guys run the bottom half of the truss. Just the 3/8" piece. I have that truss on my 14 bolt and it takes up alot of room. If your jeep is kinda low like 3-4" of lift it will probably come im contact with the tub or gas tank unless you have a cell.

I bought a 4 link kit from Ruff Stuff for the rear of my YJ.

I am trying to keep the jeep as low as possible. With the RS truss tacked on & the jeep @ ride height I only had ~2" clearance between the upper links and the tub.

The RS truss is ~15" from the top of the tubes to the top of the links. This is WAY to tall IMO for a full bodied rig unless you are jacking it to the sky.

Have redesigned a truss I am going to fab that is only ~9" from top of tubes to top of links.

BTW I have a feul cell in the back of the Jeep so tank is not in stock location.

With all that said I highly recommend the RS 4-link kit for everything else and $$. A buddy and I took the YJ from sitting on leaves to a 4-linked roller (rear only) in ~8 hours :afro: .

I bought a front and rear 4 link kit on the labor day sale. I have a rear cell already.

From the sounds of it, sounds like it's gonna be a no go. I don't wanna it jacked.

Yep. Sell the RS truss and either buy or fab a truss the hugs the top of the diff. Tie the truss into the diff cover or weld the tubes to the diff to keep from the tubes from spinning.

A full length truss is not required of you are not desert racing or rock bouncing. They do look cool & keep you from bending or spinning the tubes if you get crazy though.
