Just got a free Hi-lift jack but its got some weather damage. And its all rusty.

Besides the elbow grease with sand paper and wool or what not is there any chemical solution then can make my life a little easier to get most of the rust off so I can throw some paint on this?

Spray that beast with any lubricant you can every day.

WD-40, PB BLAST, 10W-30 Motor Oil,.... what ever you can just keep lubing it and working it DAILY until it works smoothly.

Hi-lifts do not like the outdoors. Don't paint it unless you want to completely disassemble it. I suggest lube and keep it inside.

Try some naval jelly. It is supposed to eat the rust. Works well for light rust. still may need some elbow grease if the rust is heavy.

X2 just make sure to use the heavy duty rubber glove's that stuff eat the latex one's like nothing!

auto trans fluid. I restored a 1911 from viet-nam that sat in a flooded basement gun chest for 3 yrs. that sheeet will git 'r' dun. My hi-lift is real finiky also just make sure you spray that bich down good after a mud run. but like others have stated unless you lube that stick really good and often it will rust on you. the more you use it the less it rusts. and you may as well forget painting that pos. the paint wont last.:flipoff:
