Hey all,
Well I am getting closer to that place I have wanted to be for a long time.
I just signed the papers on my new camper. It is a 2000 S&S 8ft that is made for a short bed truck. Has a few nice features too. It is self contained and has a toilet & shower. Also has an outside shower.

So right now it doesn't have A/C right now and I am not sure I need it. So do I? I know some of it will depend on where I camp & when. So school me on this. It does have one of those power vents. But I have found a A/C unit on Ebay for $389 plus shipping. So just in case I do decide I want A/C what size generator do I need? And it seems if you get anything above a 2KW they have the wheeled cart so I am worried about that fitting thru the door. Bi-Mart has a 1,850w gen on sale for $399. Anyone ever buy one off Ebay?

Rick. I suggest just using it once and figure out if you do. Typically in a camper you don't need it unless you plan on staying in it alot. When we go camp we are usually only in it at night...

Just what Crash said, I've had my camper for several years now without A/C and have survived comfortably in it. The only negative affect I've had in HOT weather was that the refrigerator couldn't keep the beer cold enough...maybe I need to look into a A/C :redneck: ,actually they make a fan that can be added to assist in keeping the refrig cooler, if wanted

Okay so what size gen should I be looking at? Bi-Mart hast the Coleman 1850 on sale for $400 or I have found a bunch on Ebay but am not sure about any of them.

Be careful on buying a generator, most Campers and RV's need "clean" power, a lot of older generators run up and down on voltage, which can be detrimental to some appliances.

You can get small AC units that run on gas and 110V ones as well (I picked up a 10,000 btu window rattler for $100 at Costco last month) You can run AC in the truck and run a hose back into the camper too.
