?'s about a gmc 1 ton set up.

So I am picking up a 78 gmc sierra grande 4x4 with a 400 sb and 1 ton drivetrain.
I know very little about this set up. I know it has 8 lug wheels and he says the front axle is always spining...but not engaged till the transfercase is put into 4 high or low.
So I was wondering is it pretty much like the military Chevy/gmc trucks then? If so will H1 or H2 wheels fit, I assume they are 8x6.5? and what about lift springs? Can I turn this into a wheeler with a little creativity and how tuff is that drivetrain?
I was planning on bobing it pretty severe and lifting it 4 inches or so.

well gm didnt make 1 tons till 79, so i hope your not paying for a 1 ton front end if it really isnt....im not far from you,ide be happy to show you what a dana 60 front looks like VS a 10 bolt or 44 front..and i can tell ya whats what...juts PM me if your interested
