Ok so my buddy just bought a set of yota axles for his Sami.
Question is, what all does he need to do. I know nothing at all about Sami's but i know the 3rd isnt centered on a Sami like a Yota. Will he be able to just bolt it up and run it? He drives it on the road sometimes so a smooth driveline would be nice.
Does he need to run a toyota T-case?
Do they make a T-case adapter for Toyota T-case to Sami Transmission?

Hes not in any hurry and wants to do it right so any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If no vibes are what he's after, go with an FJ40 axle (IIRC 74 and later had 30 spline axles...), or pick up an aftermarket housing with the diff offset....Sky, TrailTough, or the likes...putting the centered axle from a pick-up/runner will net you vibes not so friendly for the road....I have been running Toys for nearly 4 yrs now---and have had it on the road with no issues others than pretty annoying vibes from the compound angles resulting from a centered rear axle...
Another option for the rear is a Waggie offset 44....
To my knowledge, there is no adapter for a Toy T-case to mate to a Sami trans....
It's not quite a direct bolt-in, as the rear perches need to be moved in approx 5/8" on each side to match the Sami springs, the front needs to move in approx 3/8" on each side to line up with the springs...there's a few pics of the process in here...

Run rear centered with a 42 degree 4 runner shaft

Front with a 42 4 runner shaft.

You can run a 1.6 to yota stuff. 1.3 requires 2 adapters $$.

Im goin stak 3 speed. Time I get good enough gears behind a Sami Trans I'm too deep into half built stuff. I have a gti dohc so no turning back from 1.3l for now.

A Sami case will hold up to 36s

My bro has 36s bias iroks and 1.6 16v. Centered rear and zero vibes up to 70mph+

Other than strength and stability are there any other PRO's you noticed with toy axles?
What leaves are you running? Sami or toyota? Will toyota springs even fit? (other than moving the mounts)

And thanks guys, I will pass the info on. Will let you know how it turns out once we start on it.

theres a couple co's tha do a yj spring kit specific for toy axles.
4runner cv d-shaft is the cheepest way to go as far as getting it relitively vibe free. keep in mind pinion angle will need to be diferent if runing a cv shaft vs a traditional 2 joint type.

Btw sami and yota are both 11* rear so just cut one off and weld the other one on same angle.
Sami is 37.5" center pin hole to center pin hole rear.

Rears all the way around...moves the front axle forward about 1.5"...

What gen springs?
I got a couple sets of 2nd gen and 3rd gens...

Oops :redneck:....Meant Sami Rears all the way around!!!....not toys; Toy's won't fit without stretching the wheelbase & moving the the frame end mounts, and the shackle mounts for that matter....

ok cool.
Yeah i figured the toys would be a little big.
I think he said they are a spring under right now??? If so do you recomend keeping it spring under or keep it simple and just do spring over and get a ubolt flip kit?

I assumed you were gonna SPOA it when doin' the Toys....

Well i really wasnt sure if the sami came spring under but that answers my question.
So with that said, yes we will be doing SPOA.

If you know anyone interested in a set of sami axles with lockers let me know. he will also be getting rid of a set of black rockcrawler style wheels with a set of TSL 31's on them. Tires are basically new. Have been on street a few times but no signs of wear anywhere.
Think he said he want about $800 for everyhting....This high or low?

For everything, I think it's a fair deal...what lockers are in it? Don't know anyone personally, but people ask me all the time...

Actually i think its a spool for the rear but its a lock right for the front. (lock right never been installed, still in box)
Only thing i told him is not many people will want the full axle but someone might want a spare...

Thanks again for all the info. Kinda excited to help build a sami, never touched anyhting other than a toyota and a jeep but ill never touch a jeep again!!!

Sami Drivetrain is just a mini version of Toy---you'll see the similiarities! :redneck: :haha:

Both are similar. Sami hubs work on yota axles with gear change for example. Brake lines are same thread.

I Would recommend rears up front and yj rear. Yj front is nicer but kills approach angle. I ditched front leaf and going 3 link.
