Sealing a floor

So I will have the patch panel tonight for my dads stang. Once I get it replaced I will need to kill some rust and do my best to seal/protect the floor. What recomendations do you guys have based on products you have used?

I know POR makes products but I have zero experiance with that brand or any other....

Everyone raves about the por15, I've never used it... Thought about it for the floor of the bus, but it's really expensive...

POR 15 is a pain in the ass. And it will be almost impossible to do something large like that properly, without buying TONS of all the prep chemicals. You really need to submerge the part to do POR 15 properly.

I would look at a product called Zero Rust they sell at Wesco Autobody. It is an undercoating product that will give similar results to POR 15 but without the prep work/ multiple step process. It goes right over rusted metal, old coatings etc in one step and neutralizes rust. The only drawback is won't give as nice of a finish as gloss topcoated POR 15 but its just a floor right?

Or if you want to also deaden noise/vibration there is this stuff http://www.lizardskin.com/ but I've never used it and I think it's expensive.

Probably the cheapest and easiest would be DIY bedliner. Then some Raam mat and ensolite under the carpet. http://www.raamaudio.com/

Ya the por15 is not cheap and I know there are cheaper alternatives that give just as good results--thanks Pat for the info as I will look into what wesco might have.

Have you checked out Eastwood ? I use several of their products and have always been happy with the results.

I used the Rust encapsulator - paint over rust along with the Heavy duty anti rust while doing the rear 2/3rds body swap on my FJ40.

The POR15 starter kit is pretty cheap and a decent amount of product. The Marine Clean is amazing. I put two rusty screws in it for to long, 2 days and it ate away the screws. And its water base.

So the question is--how much do I need to do the floor? for the stuff alan and pokey described its like $130 for a gallon.
