A buddy called me this afternoon after riding at a local park and seen a horrible RZR crash! He said it was the scariest thing he had ever witnessed, a man and his wife pulled up where him and some other RZRs were sitting at the bottom of a steep hill climb and proceeded to climb it without saying a word. The couple climbed about 3/4 the way up the hill(mind you this is a very long steep hill) got hung up and backed up and proceeded to try a different route, well when they tried that the RZR stood up and over backwards then end over end all the way down the hill(trashing the brand new RZR with less than 20 miles. But the worse thing is after the the RZR started flipping the lady was ejected from RZR first, and I was told the RZR rolled over her, then after another flip the guy was ejected from RZR as well! I was told the lady had many lacerations to her face and alot of bleeding and ended up gettin Med-Flighted out, as far as what I was told the guy was fine. But the main thing I'm getting at is all this possibly could have been avoided with the use of the seat belts in the RZR! So please for the sake of your family, friends, and loved ones put on your seat belt or harnessed THAT'S WHY THEY ARE IN THERE!

I was not present when this happened, so Im only goin by what I was told

My thoughts and prayers go out the the couples family and hope all is well!

I learned the hard way a few weeks ago to ALWAYS wear your belts. I usually loosened them up or took them off on easy trails, never did itcross my mind of something breaking. Long story short, something broke caused me to flip and come out of rzr. I will always wear mine now.

It is actually more comfortable riding in my buggy WITH the lap and shoulder belts than without.

Not the reason to use them, but an added benefit. Most rolls happen when you don't expect them. Too many time ya hear "I didn't think it was gonna happen"

We saw a similar type accident at during the 2011 Wheelin' 4 Warriors Rock Ride at Morris Mountain almost 2 years ago. I guy was climbing a trail and rolled it. Fortunately it only went over about 2 times; unfortunately he broke his right leg against the right door and ended up with a suspected coincussion and several other cuts and bruises on arms, legs and face. We happened to have to trauma nurses with us to take care of this guy and he needed the help. Besides being very overweight, and not wearing the harness, he was diabetic and had a heart device. We ended up having to extricate him from the razr through the passenger door and physically load him into the back of a jeep for the trip down the mountain and out to meet the ambulance. Then we had to recover the razr and one our buddies drove it back down the hill with its bent wheels and all because the owner was scared to do so.

In my experience rolls in side by sides have been much worse for the occupants than rolls on ATVs; mostly because the occupants are properly secured. On a 4 wheeler, typically the rider is separated from the ATV during the first roll; but in a sides by side, you are more likely to get bounced around the inside until it the ride comes to a complete stop. So please buckle up regardless of whether you are in a full bodied rig, a buggy, or a Side by side -- if it has belts, please wear them!

Thanks for posting this Bradley . I have watched races and been in sxs for years now and i have never seen anything this bad until.yesterday . I know what some people think they have just bought a 13,000 toy but i can not say it enough please buy some harnesses. I know cages can be expensive but they are needed to but the main thing is seat belts. I am trying to get in touch with the couple at the hospital and i will keep u all informed on how they are. All my prayers go out to them and their family.

Well i just talked to stoney lonesome(where the wreck happened) and they told me the woman has some stiches and a few cracked vitabrays but she is doing well and got to go home today. The big man sure was looking out for her. But this could have been avoid by simply putting on a belt.

I stay on my wife all the time. She will wear her lap belt but wont put her arms through the shoulder harnesses unless she thinks it may be a bad hill. She says she can't see as good with them on and she has a good cage but I have flipped my buggy over and knocked myself out turning around. Hell I wear harnesses in her rzr when I'm loading it up on the trailer! :****:

I completely agree on wearing harnesses at all times. Whether its a SXS or vehicle if it has belts, wear them!

Also a big fan of wearing helmets when in SXS or atv's. got to stay protected! Also feel like people need to go over proper protocol for in case of a flip. See far too many videos of people hanging outside of the cage area or have their hands holding on to the top bar of the cage.
