How are you securing your hood skins?

I'm thinking I'll just use some tapped tabs and allen head cap screws, since if need be I can still get a fire extinguisher at the motor fromt he sides if need be.

What about rattles? I hate them. On my roof I used a bead of silicone around the perimeter and foam weather stipping on the middle tubes.

This time I'm thinking of a similar setup but letting the silicone fully harden on the hood skins so it acts as a rubber spacer.

Any other methods you guys using?

My last car was Dzeus and the next will be Dzeus.

All the other homies have moved on to threaded chassis tubes or tabs and away from Dzeus........but I like 'em.

Dzeus fastener's are for the elitest of the elite, as they cost so much and break off so easily. Only RICH buggy owner's can have them. I on the otherhand am a big fan of self tapper's.:redneck: It's a drill, a tap, and a fastener all in one, it's almost better than duct tape

I hear ya on the self tappers :redneck: I have a few of those hidden here and there on my rig.

You want Autofab hood pins. They cost WAAAAAY more than Dzeus fasteners so you will be in a elitist buggy owner realm that is not easily understood.

In my elitist hurry I forgot to mention.....a hoodpin in each corner of the hood. The roof, fire wall and floor are secured with 5/16-18 bolts threaded into 3/4"long allthread couplers and of course Dzeus on the skins.Self tappers into the tubes and/or tapped holes in the tube is GHETTO!

Jeff and D....get a room. :kissmyass:

Pook, I like my new hood with Dzeus's. But I also have some self tappers for other parts. Darius likes 'em so.....

I've got 4 of those hood pin things from schucks and a couple hockey pucks. Works good, follows with the rest of my booty fab, northwest, toothless back woods, cant weld for **** theme.

I just got done with you're last 3 peices of aluminum a while ago, I wish I knew you were so fond of self tapper's, you're new stuff is bolted.

If self tappers are ghetto then I live in the worst part of the ghetto.:haha:
A piano hinge and hood pins for the hood.:redneck:

I am thinking about the piano hinge :redneck: that or some backyard wood gate hinges.

I've done some metal forming on the hood, it fits pretty good, so if I can get it a bit better some hoodpins could work nicely.

Whatever fastening system you prefer will ultimatley be replaced with bungy chords, zipties or tape.

Self tappers are ghettooooooooooo...

I replaced all of them with stainless 10-24 button heads.

Can you still say "Ghetto"...or is that a racial slur too :corn:
