both my rigs are solid axle toyotas and they ride pretty damd ruff,just the nature of the beast (or so i think) but what about shocks all ive ever run are rancho. would switching to some $$ bilsteins soften up my ride alot or not so mutch? just somthing i had on my mind

Depends on the suspension system, brand....IMO, alot has to do with the spring rate on how a truck rides...shocks are just a part of the whole package, if you get what I mean....:awesomework:

i have found that depending on the spring, if the shackle angle is near vertical, it will ride like ****, with some of the leaf packs my buddy's have made this has been the case.

My personal SAS, i have a 15 degree or so shackle angle at ride height, using generic rancho 5000 shocks rides almost as good as my IFS did, and lots smoother than most of my buddy's straight axles.

As zukkev said, it does depend a lot on the leaf pack, generally, the flatter the leaf pack, the smoother it rides, the more arch it has, the rougher it will ride, also, depends on how many springs are in the spring pack AKA (as zukkev said) spring rate

My springs are flat in my sami and it rides like sheit!!!:haha: It actually isn't too bad for an overweight gocart!!! :redneck: And yes, shackle angle does play a fairly large part in ride quality...:awesomework:

probably cause it aint got enough weight to bend those springs!:fawkdancesmiley: do ya have to anchor it down when ya take the tires an wheels off so it dont float away?:;

yeah it sounds like the only way to get a softer ride in a toy is to go to longer springs. ive really been trying to avoid having to move spring hangers the welding i think i can handle but im woried about geting things lined up perfect:puke:

If you've ever seen what the factory welds look like on the inside, you'd be glad you cut 'em off and re-welded them!:D (provided you are a decent welder anyhow!)

Mine was SPOA with stock springs, and back then it definitely rode like ****!!!:haha: Running rears all around now, with a main leaf added, and does do much better than before---could be better though.:awesomework:

No, it just rolls over in the fetal position and he throws a blankee on it.:stirpot::stirpot:

Rancho's suck and ride shitty. Bilsteins would be an awesome choice if your upgrading shocks. I am also fond of the BBCS from polyperformance.
