Okay I am looking at getting a compressor for my garage. Because of the size I am also thinking for now I won't run any pipe just get a air hose on a reel.

So which one? I am thinking a 5-7HP with a 60-80 gal tank. I also have an old 60 tank that I thought about hooking up for extra air storage. So I am looking at Sear, Home Depot & Lowes right now. I would like to stay under $800 so if you know of good or bad one please pipe up.

I have the 3hp 60gal Husky from Home Depot. I like it ALOT better than my previous compressor, which was a 3 hp 60 gal from Harbor Freight. The Husky is about half as loud. After my HF compressor crapped out (when it was 6 months old) I looked at the Kobalts at Lowes and was shocked that they were IDENTICAL to the US General compressors from Harbor Freight.

i have the sears one and love it. pretty quite for the size. puts out enough air to work around the house and on my jeep

Ive herd real good things about the sears ones but our house doesnt have enough power to support 220 so i just have a 20 gal

Well from the replies I got it sounds like the Sears compressor is the best bet. I don't have to get one of the ones listed if someone knows of another one. I stopped by my local NAPA yesterday and their prices were way higher than these.

first off, i'll say I have a sears direct-drive compressor thats 9 (!) years old. been filling an aux. 80 gallons tank for the last 2 years. Works great, never a problem.

but the dang thing is so loud that you cant have any kind of conversation near it. I have to watch when I turn it on, just to keep from waking the neighbors!
At least buy earplugs, cause you will go deaf listening to it run!

but it is a great value for the money. I have used mine near continuous for hours on end and never had a complaint (well, at least not from the compressor!)
