I went on a parts hunt for a coil and master cylinder for my little boys Willys. I walked into the store, asked if he could source some parts......didn't look up the part number, year or anything else. He only asked if it had been converted to 12 volts. Walks in the back and brings me back both parts. I won't be using any other parts warehouse in town.

Just for fun, I went into Advance on the way home. The very pretty young lady told me I would have to use the internet because they don't make them anymore.

Feel free to post up any good parts stores, good gear heads in your area that can help source parts by knowing instead of plonking on a computer.

It's all about the man behind the counter :****: Do you remember his name? I'll make sure he gets some recognition

Probably the same guy that's been there since it was Wayne's Auto Parts.

Ever used Stewart's Auto Parts? They were always my go to. They used to still know how to use the books to look up stuff. None of this "does your car have a/c?" before they could pull a headlight number for you.

Depending on who is working Oreilly's in Jasper Al is the same. Several in that store can locate what you need. We also have Manchester Auto just north of Jasper that is old school.

For you guys in Birmingham Sayre Auto Parts isn't that bad away and they are old school that have stacks of books and most of the time know the part number without looking it up.

I'll get it next time I go through...probably later to day tbh. I am picking up a MGB this afternoon and need a few odds and ends.

Locally owned parts store in my town Tatum auto parts is just like that,, I retired the juggy and I'm building a buggy they told me to pull it up there and they'd figure out exactly what I needed for all the plumbing and wiring right there. You can't find that at many places.

Most chain parts stores don't want to pay anything anymore and think the computer catalog is the answer for everything, and 90% of the time it is, until one of us yahoos walks in wanting a 1350 u joint.
