this afternoon at 3 i was down south of town talking to a guy about steel buildings and getting a bid on an erected building. Looks like its gonna be about 60K with doors and windows, insulated and put up, without concrete for the size I want. as we're finishing talking, I get a call from Kalli's (8 yo step daughter) school. "we got a sick one here, 103 fever" is what I hear. I race up to paola, grab her from school and talk to the nurse (the wife is in Florida so I'm in charge all week, and this is my 4th month as a dad ever). I find out she said 100.3. that eases the mind. she was feeling bad this morning but I did the "suck it up and go to school" routine. I'm a pretty good dad thumb.gif
after I get her home I gave her some ibuprofen child formula and take her temp again. 101.4. in 15 minutes. Okay, dont' panic, you can handle this. get her a drink of water, talk to her for a bit and call wife again. she is still in a convention, or getting banged in a hotel room, I'm not sure, you never know with these "conventions for work" they go to. finally get ahold of her and tell her the situation, while taker her temp again. ****, 102.5 and still climbing. Time to call the experts. My mom. she comes in and magically makes the fever start to recede (or maybe it was the medicine. I'm going with mom). So now I get to spend tonight with her (which is cool) and maybe tomorrow. I might catch up on some "accomplish nothing" I've been needing to :flipoff1:
that's my story, rambling comments greg? :flipgotcha:

Keep her hydrated. These things rarely get serious until hydration issues set in. In my experience, even if a kid "can't" drink anything else they still go for icy pops.

God damn kelly you can ramble and start threads nobody cares about, but still reads like no other. :flipgotcha:

All kidding aside, hope the tyke kicks it soon and is all better.

That sucks. But I know what your going through. Good thing Captain Gene came to the rescue

She had a normal temp at 8:30 and hadn't had any fever reducer for 3 hours (could take them on 2 hr increments). I gave her motrin and put her to bed. woke her up at 1 and it was in the 97's ??? Kids are weird. today it was a 99.8, so tylenol it was. I get to hang out all day now.

At least you got the call and went and got her!

A father I knows calls someone else to go get her! >:(

Kelly dont have a job right now... I pay all bills in our house. I'll leave work or any other "thing" in a minute for HB.

Ok, to add to the sickness. My fam and I have been sick since Sunday. 1st the kiddo started yackying everything up Saturday night. By Sunday he had some explosive diarrea's. Monday Tiff took West to the doctor, turns out to be the Roto Virus. Monday afternoon, tiffany and I are both complaining of headaches and feeling like crap. By 6:30 we are fighting each other over the sink or toilet. This procedes for close to 5 hours.
I am down 9lbs from my Sunday morning weight. Tiff is down 7. Couldn't even think of getting out of bed yesterday. However we sent West to Day Care downtown with Grandpa, they sent him home. It took every fiber of my being to drive the 20 miles in and back. And took me a solid 3 hours of sleep once I passed out at home to recover from just the drive. Today we have a babysitter here. I still feel like crap but am better. There is just no way I want to laydown in bed again. Way too many hours in that thing. I am going stir crazy but cant do much else. You guys have helped keep my sanity.

Hoping to go back to work tomorrow, hoping.
