Has anybody seen, used, or been winched out by someone with the XRC8? I am thinking of winches and that has got to be the lowest price I have ever seen! Any feed back?

I haven't seen one, but I was told it is the same as Harbour freight.:masturbanana[1]:
That's different than what I have heard.

There is a decent thread on Pirate. Looks like a quality unit, for the price. Reports are its better than a HF or a Costco unit, but not quite a T-max and definitely not a WARN.

I plan on buying one for my trailer to replace my HF 2000lbs unit that *just* works. For a trail rig I'd still stick with a nice Warn (new or used).

i think that they would be great for a trailer winch. but if it means getting out of the woods or not i would go with something with a name thats been tested though and through.

From the thread on Pirate looks like the winch holds up so far, but the cable they apparently sell with it looks like a fiber-core wire rather than a (better, and stronger) steel-core. One guy is showing cable issues all ready with it after only a couple pulls.

So for use as a recovery winch, I would look at a replacement cable (which is typically reasonably cheap either out of the classifieds or new from like Greenshields or something), or rope.

As a trailer winch, me personally I'd just run it till it fails, or begins to show serious signs.
