Ok , a lot of yall have been In the crawling scene much longer than me.. But in a group text full of morons, last night the conversation of rocwells came up.. It was brought to my attention that I baby my ****, (as if I didn't know) and would never need rocwells (thank god). See I was brought up to take care of my **** and keep it nice and it would last a long time... Not only that but when ya work hard To pay for a toy, why in gods name would one wanna go riding just to try to break an expensive part!?? I may be one of the few, but when I go ridin, I go for one reason... This being the reason sensei John G is my fav riding buddy. We can unload, kill pretty much every trail we attempt.. Ride for hours and hours, 1. We don't stop to talk every 5 seconds, 2. We don't try to break ****. We go to ride and ride some more. So can anyone explain to me the logic behind the second a person unloads, stomping the gas every time they press the pedal?? I have seen absolute hell raising when it was totally stupid and uncalled for... My thoughts are this.. As long as I'm making it up every trail, and only hammer it when needed, what kind of tard would I be to go balls to the wall for a hour or so and have to load up or work on my **** all dam weekend when I should be riding.. Hell I snapped my rear shaft last weekend and let me tell ya.. It waisted many hours of My riding time, not only that but OTHERS as well. I felt absolutely TERRIBLE!! and that's no lie. Also there were ZERO hot bitches running up to me telling me how cool I was, not one! Haha. . Was thankful I could fix it and not have to buy expensive parts. But when I see someone dam near destroy **** for no reason all I can think is , 1. That was stupid 2. Hope they have plenty of money.
See I'm not plow boy, or TC.. I don't wipe with 50's or have what seems to be unlimited funds... Am I the Minority here?? Surly most of yall don't go out to break **** you worked your ass off to pay for? If so please, please help me understand the thought process behind it.. Cause I'll be at the top of the trail looking down laughing. :flipoff1:

I got scolded last time i brought up plowboy.

I agree i dont go out to break. I push my jeep harder than I probably hsould but i dont try and rock bounce up a trail. When i go ride i want to ride see some trails, talk a little **** between friends and load my **** back up on the trailer at the end of the day. I have thought about competing but like you said i dont wipe my ass with 50's. hell 1/2 the time i'm doing good to afford tp. breaking is never fun esp when it holds people up but it happens. No matter what you build it can break and when it does that's when limp back to the trailer and hope someone has a shotgun seat. that's just me. i ride with guys that are balls to wall every trail and it's entertaining not going to lie, esp when i crawl it or hit it at 1/2 their speed.

**** No!! Breaking **** sucks. I have to try to find time and money to fix it. I intentionally try to NOT break ****. Certain things at windrock, if I can't make it up within a few tries, it may be time to hit the bypass or pull cable. This is especially true if its the beginning of the day.

I agree. Breaking sucks...and I do it far too often. Bad luck for the past year with my rig...and I've not been pounding on it...just correcting a lot of halfway done stuff from when I got it.

Maybe everyone wants to be a bouncer and they like the skinny pedal too much??
I think its the clash between crawling and bouncing and what people wanna do/be seen doing.
That said...to each his own. Bash your junk if ya wanna, its entertaining to watch!

I think it is all about driving style. Mine is the hardest line possible I can make SLOWLY. I love not spinning a tire on something others struggle with.

I try not to break ****, but it is inevitable. I make half ass decent money, not enough that I would say "I'm going to try to destroy my ARB for fun!", but I take risks. Last year I drove my old Ranger truggy like Bobby Tanner trying to get into Lions Den. Luckily I didn't break anything but my ignition toggle switch. :dunno: I can have a blast either way as long as we cover alot of trail, can't do that if you're always fixing ****. I hate stopping. That's what camp is for.

I try not to break my rig at all even with rockwells and a big block. Folks i ride with and my buddies all give me **** about it but if or when I do break it is hard to fix it with my time being very valuable to me. If I dont make it sometimes I will be ruff on my rig but not where I will barrel roll down a hill and have axles broke off the rig.

When it comes to this topic bouncing/racing and crawling are two very different mindsets. Most of the guys racing are out to have the fastest time, make it the farthest up, and put on a show. With that comes a high degree of probability that some form of damage with occur....tho I'm sure they rather not break either.

When it comes to crawling and trail riding each person and or groups has their own riding style. Sometimes lots of throttle is used to compensate for lack of driving skill, sometimes it's just being new to the sport and not knowing, some rigs take more throttle than others to get over different obstacles, and sometimes people just like to gas it. All of which is ok...it's your rig.

As for me Id rather not break at all....but it's part of the sport and its gonna happen. To me there is a big difference is breaking because of bad luck and or normal use ( as in your case kush) as opposed to being stupid or being on a trail you know u have no business being on with an incapable rig.

I drive a long way to go wheel...take time off from work and have a good bit invested...so my whole goal is to drive back on the trailer at the end of the day. I drive my rig hard when needed..but i pretty much know what itll take and what it wont. I carry lots of spare parts/ multiples of everything. I also have spent a lot of money on parts that u can't see by just walking by my rig....that's the stuff that keeps you together and riding.

I like to mash my motor an bounce off of stuff :****: but also like to crawl at times too! I've broke a lot of stuff an beef it up as I go plus having loud exhaust don't help on the motor mashing tho. I don't get to ride as much as I need to so when I go its hell on the old rig.

GrayRock Canyon. That is where this all started. Crawl until you couldn't crawl no more. :driving: :dblthumb:

Therapy comes in different forms ... Some mash their motor.

Some seek out herbal therapy , how much does ones kush supply cost for a year ? Isn't that literally watching your money go up in "smoke" ?

Well Piper that is a great question .. It could cost a person thousands, and then again it's possible to smoke all day , and actually not pay penny.. All about how you go about it.. That's all I will say about that. I believe u knew the answer to that ding dong. Haha

Trust me I know. Oh so well.

Also I know "skaters gonna skate", I don't want anyone thinking That I'm "hatin" on anyone, I love to watch the races on YouTube, although after knowing a couple of the guys that race I would love to go support and watch them... And I understand breaking **** and giving it hell then. This was more towards going to have fun trail Riding. It seems to be a huge inconvenience and a big chunk of money every time something blows apart...
I was just thinkin last night bout how a lot of folks seems to think "beatin the **** outta it" is the thing to do. And I'm not downing that, only if I have to help them all day instead of riding. :flipoff1:

Coming from the west coast wheeling scene, I can say that what goes on out here isn't "crawling"! Atleast what I have seen. I have always been very gentle on the go fast pedal, because im running on a very tight budget, and as soon as I unloaded my new rig off the trailer I learned that down here, wheel speed is key. It will take me along time to truly get the hang of wheeling here because of this. Out west it was 1st gear, low on the range box, and low range on the t case. 5.38 gears on 39's. Here everything I bumped up against I bounced off of, and it took a while to figure out there isn't any ****ing traction here!
Im with you kush, I drive like my Visa card is under my skinny pedal, and every time I mash on it, money blows out the tail pipe!

Where on the other coast did you wheel? I'm pretty well versed in the areas. thumb.gif

It is a geographical thing. when we were in PA wheeling you didnt spin on rocks because it took huge chunks out your tire. It hurt me to spin because in 3 days i did more damage to my tires than i did in the 5 years i've had them before. The south is unique in wheeling apparently.

X3. Seriously

I try to go as slow as possible at first if that doesn't happen I'll warm the tires some then give it hell until I know it's not going or possibly rolling over. I think if you have good parts you need to be crazy to break every trip out. Stuffs going to break but if your doing it every trip something is wrong or your a idiot or maybe just rich.
