Solid diff covers

Any cast diff cover will be weaker than a fabricated cover, but still much stronger than a stock cover thumb.gif

I got solid knuckles and love them so I figured why not. First ride I hit something and the lower bolts pulled the threads out of the housing. I helicoiled them before I went to the GAP on the second ride with the SOLID cover and knocked the s and the d off the cover. At hollytree a few weeks ago I dented it on the bottom below the symbol and broke 2 cooling fins off. I beat my buggy pretty good and don't really pick "lines" anymore but 3 rides? I am going to get in touch with solid and try to get my money back. At this rate it will be cheaper for them to refund me and me buy a blue torch cover than keep sending the solid ones back and have to buy silicone and dope everytime I go ride! :****:

That's kinda of what I was thinking. ORC in bham had them for $99. For the price they seemed ok but I can't afford to buy things twice. Any suggestion on a good one? I really hate the "lip" on the bottom of most welded plat covers.

I strongly recommend the blue torch kryptonite covers! What lip are you talking about?

I got my solid for like 75 shipped. I just googled it and picked the cheapest. Prolly shouldnt have done that because I am getting no response from the company I bought it from. Thats why I am about to call SOLID and see what they say.

Yep can't really beat the BTF covers, I've had the same one on my buggy since it was built

If you're looking @ fabricated covers like above, it would he beneficial to find out what material is being used. If a company is using A36 (36,000 yield), that is the softest standard material out there. Try to find some using Grade 50 or 80, which is still form-able/weld-able and will be much stronger. Next step up is T1 (100,000 yield), but that's not very good for forming.

The bolt ring is the " lip" I was trying to find something that was angled to slide over rocks like a " crane" cover. Guess I could always add fine between bolts.

I won a set of ruff stuff covers off infamous 4x4 as well, very impressed with their quality and craftsman ship, they will be getting more business from me for sure!
