So who runs solid motor/t case mounts? What are the pros and cons of running solid vs having poly bushings? Its for a 87 toyota pickup standard cab short bed with a dana 44 front 14 bolt rear. Im putting a chevy 350/turbo350/205 going in soon. Any advise on the mounts?

Mines hardmounted throughout, and though it does the job, I wouldn't do it again. That **** will rattle you apart, let alone the rig. Better put nylocks or lock washers on EVERYTHING. :haha: Aside from that though, just hardmount everything (engine, trans, and t-case) if you're going to hardmount anything. :awesomework:

X2....... I did it on my Scout and hated it. It wasn't to bad when the RPMs are up but idle to 1700 made me feel like I'd been running a weed whacker all day. Cheapo plastic racing buckets didn't help.

Mines not solid but in delrin, I think the frame twist has more stress on the power train. Mine twisted enough to make the sealing surface between tranny and adapter leak ATF.
I wouldnt do it.

You need to take frame flex into account. if you mount the engine solid, mount the trans/case with a poly or rubber mount there needs to be some movement or you run the risk of cracking the bellhousing on the TH350.

Most of our race jeeps are this set up

solid mounts would be the easy way out.
i say take a bit more time, and fab up some good mounts.

if u decide to go with the solid mounts, i hope you have a good dentist:haha:

A healthy 350 and hard shifting Th350 setup solid mounted in a trail rig is asking for trouble down the road IMO. You need a little bit of "give" in there. I would rather have a mount give a little than a expensive transmission case cracking.

Ok from all the replies sounds like im going against the solid mount idea. What kind of bushings would you guys recommend? I was looking at the poly performance ones. Any suggestions from personal experiences?

As said before if you solid mount the engine you need to soft mount the trans. If you do this keep in mind that the whole drivetrain is now stressed under torque load all the way to the engine mounts. Mine is this way and vibration isn't a issue for me.
