solid or rubber

Ok starting my new buggy assembly and had a question should I use solid motor mounts and mid plate or rubber mounts with a mid plate currently on my old buggy I have rubber with mid plate and trans and transfer cases are solid mounted
 
I could be wrong, happens a lot, I believe I remember Reading that whatever you use on the engine use the same on trans/transfer cross member to react with the torque twist or WatEver the motor does. . A lot of people say solid but it is rough as hell, I personally have rubber mounts, I have recently found out are completely wrong so I will be doing this soon also. Again let someone with more knowledge chime In. I'm a few brain cells short so my memory sucks.. (but i read a lot about this $ pit/hobby)

I think I remember reading the same thing also but wanted more opinions before I start ordering more stuff
 
We cracked bell housing on our drag truck due to rubber mounts on engine and solid trans mount, it allowed engine a lil flex under torque and inturn twists at the bell housing as the week spot. Just my experience. I run all solid mounts on my bouncer, theres no power loss through chassy and also eliminates running multi point ground cables.......

I broke a trans and transfer case the same way. Either solid or rubber but not both !

Either or, not both, yes. I prefer solid. The vibes do not bother me at all and it saves having to deal with leaving space around engine components for it all to move.
 
Do you trust your chassis is not going to flex? Maybe after a hard hit to belly? Just something to consider, if you chassis flexes and it's hard mounted something is going to give. :dunno:

I was about to bring this up, solid mounts are good for good strong full tube chassis - not ideal for jeeps or partial factory frame buggies due to frame flex

If it's a full tube chassis your building you should be fine with solid as long as it's braced properly
 
Been running solid mount for years in mud trucks and race cars. Now in my buggy. Alot less problems with solid mount when done properly.

I don't mount anything to belly. Make it all hang and not sit in chassi.

I agree there, too. Belly gets all ****ed up no matter how tough it is. When it does mounts move and transmissions crack.
 
What bout these or u think they would give with the small bushing

Still would get flex from rubber bushing! Just save some money and get 1/4" flat plate and 1 3/4 tube then cut your angles,drill holes and weld in....... Walla! :dblthumb:
