so i decided on a 4.3 v-6 for the new whilly project. i am a ford guy so i dont know chevy stuff very well.

so the question is what vehicles do they come in?

i am gonna start visiting impound auctions to see what i can find to bid on but it would be nice to know what year style models come with the 4.3...

like would a 97 V6 camaro have a 4.3 vortec? there is one up for bid tomorrow. id really like a vortec design if can afford it.

so what have you all found 4.3s in?

CAMAMRO 3.4 v6-- 60 degree motor JUNK!

1/2 ton work trucks/s-10 blazer-pickups/astro vans/ g vans(full size)

Camero v-6 would be a 3.8

Trucks, s-10's and full size cars.

98 and newer have the theft system in the computer, so you would have to go backwards on the computer system, but the motors are better. 2001 and newer have wear issues with the thrust bearings on the crank.

most common are the 90-95 motors. Me personally, I would stick with the throttle body just for east of repair. With a flasher and a wire you can get out even if the computer goes out. Just an opinion.

thanks guys they will fax a sheet with the year and make models up for auction so now i can pick and choose which auctions i go to.:clappy:

There are plenty of good Vortecs in the bigger wrecking yards. Last time I needed one i payed 500 for the whole ball of wax.

really, where??

im getting much higher quotes around 900 to 1200 for eng and harness then they want more for the ecu.

i would actually like to get the whole vehicle as there would be other goodies ill need like fuel pumps lines wires...but a vortec for 500 is within range...
