spare alternator?

just wondering if anyone here carries a spare alternator in the trail rig or whatever.
got 190,000 troble free miles on my 95 grand alternator.. knock on wood..

I carry brush's and a belt. If it's worse than that my yellow top will usually take care of it.

I carry a spare starter.:eeek: It's a hellava lot easier than cleaning out the brushes and lubing up the bendex when the SOB gets packed full of mud.

perhaps im just paranoid.
i had an s-10 blazer went through 2 alts. in 40,000 miles. had to get towed once.
Top of the line battery means you might just go further out before noticing it.:stirpot:

If you go more than 5 minutes between gauge checks you deserve to pay to get towed.... I'm a truck driver so I have a habit of checking my gauges constantly. I don't get surprised.

just thought i would mention it after reading a few threads about what everyone packs along with them. axleshafts, u-joints, steering pumps.....

only time i have ever gotten towed home was in that ol' chev. i would pack two if i wheeled one of those
