I am gathering parts for a nice build. It will be used as a recreational wheeler mostly, but I am going to meet the requirements of the Legends class in U4. I have decided to go with Spidertrax axle housings. Now, should I use the Ultimate housing or the Pro series housing? The chassis will be a 4 seater GoatBuilt with a L94 6.2 and 6L80. Thanks any input will be appreciated.

I have read some negative things about TG's quality, I know I don't have to worry if I go with Spidertrax.

The new housing are better. There were some issues with the older ones, but these have machined faces and even except 10" gears.

I have a brand new Ruffstuff 69 housing. It's a drop out 60 set up. The super 60 gear set will fit which is a 10" gear. If of intrest let me know.

For the rear there is a 79 housing made by ruffstuff. Currie made a special 10" gear set that lasted through koh behind some 700+hp rigs and the Nora 1000. 5.38 is the working ratio. I spoke with Tony Pellagrano (sp) of genright about those gears.

If you're going to truss it I don't think it would really matter. Just looked at the website, are they no longer offering the Ultimate with 3/8" wall tubes?

If you're using their outers I'd advise using Pro Series knuckles as they have larger spherical bearings, which I wear out the ones on my Ultimate knuckles especially on the side the SE ram pushes on.

Don't go to sleep on RuffStuff housings, they make a great product for less

Yea I think both housings are the same except the pro is 4130 right? I was planning on the pro series knuckles on the ultimate housing. I am still considering other options, the rough stuff is quite a bit heavier too. Yes they will both be trussed. I am not totally sold on TG's quality, not just their housings but unit bearings also. Thanks for the info on the knuckles too!

I spoke with Randy of Jimmys4x4 as he said he wouldn't recommend the unit bearings from tg. I'm running dynatrac ball joint knuckles with a spindle set up with a power brake set up on the tg housing. Not playing with crappy manual brakes.

Yep all the pro stuff is 4130. If you're running spidertrax outers I'd run their housing too, one stop shopping. I ordered all my spidertrax stuff from Tech Tim (Wild West Offroad), he had some pretty good pricing. My spidertrax unit bearings are still going strong, when its time to replace them I'll probably just call Branik up as they are local.
