My car trailer is sprung under right now... I've been looking at making it a deck over or extending the width with short drive over fenders... Either way, I'd need to SOA it to get the frame height...

They are also drop axles...

What problems could I run into by doing this???

Those of you that have experience with both, what do you think of how each pulled???

I did a spring over on my trailer several years ago, no problems at all. Actually improved my approach & departure angles when entering or leaving the meadows. No noticealbe differences in towing either.

I went springover when I put a 5" lift on my truck, just seemed like to thing to do

There is no problem with spring over most rv trailers are that way if you know chop shop his trailer has drop axles and is spring over it will work fine :awesomework:

x2. just did mine last winter.

Apparently I missed this thread.
Doing spring over on a trailer is not as simple as flipping the axles over. They have a camber built into them so they are generally straight when the load is on them. Flipping them over will cause extremely premature tire ware. I have seen tires destroyed in a couple hundred miles. Most RV's are spring under with straight axles, although a few are spring over. I would consider just replacing the axle beams with straight ones. You could probably sell the drop beams and recoup most of your cost.

No ****! Did Matt flip his axles over? Wouldnt you usually weld new perches on top of the axle, they're only like $15. You can see the arch in the axle unloaded.

Louie....its a snap to do cut the pearches off the bottom or you can leave them on and just add new to the top of the axle don't flip them over and turn the backing plates as there is camber pressed into the axles if they are newer....you will like the flexibility that it affords you....other than loading a low car onto it but just drive rear tires of tow rig onto some block to overcome a low vehicle catching at the break over

ive had both style spring setups and theres no difference. Big lifted trucks actually need a srping over in order to keep there 5th wheel trailers level.
