i noticed today that when i am driving along in my truck, i can hear a kind of a squeaking rattling noise. also, when i work my clutch at speed in second, third, or fourth gears, i hear what sounds like a metal on metal squeal. my initial thought is that maybe i lost a spring out of my clutch plate, but i dont know if that would be super loud, or quiet like it is, so i can barely hear it over my exhaust leak. my second thought is that i need a new clutch, that the squealing when i work the clutch is the rivets rubbing on the flywheel.

thoughts?:corn: i am really hoping that this wont keep me from wheeling this weekend

First, duck under your dash and look at the pedal bracket while you work the pedal. It might have cracked. Second, dab some marine grease on the release fork where the slave hits it. Other than that, throwout bearing or pilot bearing, which means new clutch while you're in there.

From what you described my money's on the throwout. Rattling while driving (no pressure) and squealing when using the clutch.
