I need some help finding the spline count and such on a rag joint for an '84 Chevy S10 down at the steering box. Apparently Napa can't find it/doesn't supply it.

Help! Please! I suck at the internet.:D

I'm gonna call around some more, but not sure if this is a dealer only thing, or a find a Borgeson that works and replace it with that, but i still need to know the spline count and dia of both sides or whatever...:corn:

90% of gm boxes are ether 13/16-36 or 3/4-30.... see what open end wrench fits the splines... if ya want to ver spline, theres a flat spot that throws people off, count half and double it..

the other end would be what your shaft is, box doesnt matter... match the colum.. if i recall its .5dd

on a side note, if its just the rag thats worn out, they have replacement rags in the help section.. even schmucks has'm....
if your doing a swap, hit pull a part, grab a couple off early and late, then pull the bolts out and mix/match/.....

dont tell mim that, Boonie doesnt like simple fixes like that.

Back to Never Any Parts Available. Of course napa doesnt have just the ruber disc that is the same on all GM cars and trucks, that would be easy and cheap. NO dice.:haha:

They have that replacement disc at NAPA. I'm just a chronic over-thinker:redneck:.

It just looked like the metal tab parts of the rag joint had been bent out some allowing more movement, aside from the rag joint being worn and stretched, I'll prob. just get the universal disc and go from there i guess.... it seems too simple....and cheap.....:eeek: I would have liked to gotten the whole piece instead of having to replace just the disc.

just think... rovers use rg joints ( guibos) for drive shafts... no u joints... wonder if those gm ones would work under sami power.. lol..
