Steering shaft material

So I assume most of you guys are using drill rod for your steering shaft material because the cold rolled stuff (hardware steel stuff) is of poor quality.

But in any case is grade 01 sufficiant?

I'd personally just use some 1018. won't bend or break. and easy to come by

Its just gotta be a smooth machined surface due to the bushings in the tilt assy and the hiems.

What size do you need? 3/4"?

We have some turn-ground-polished, but nothing in 3/4"
