strongest Dana 80 gears?

Asking a question for a friend.... he has a 1000+HP pull truck and can't get more than a few pulls out of his gears. What brands have people had good or bad luck with?

A buddy of mine pulls with a 1000+hp '05 Dodge and he runs 2 traction bars plus a bar on each side that goes from the frame to the axle to eliminate ANY suspension travel. Works well, zero hop and it flat out goes. It runs a bone stock AAM 11.5 and the only thing he breaks is clutches and head studs.

Like said gotta stop the hop! If he builds traction bars weld the tubes in the chunk!

F 106 Rockwell. 80 ain't gonna hold that kinda hp truck pullin. It will live a few hooks but that's abut it. booyang

Check run out on that spool. I've seen a bent Toyota spool. Figure it can happen on an 80 also

Yeah those are expected but you made it sound like you had 4 separate bars - these two then two laterally.. Did I not understand correctly?

I have a buddy that has the same problem. He has tried a bunch of different gear brands. He has had the best luck with Dana Spicer Gears. He has a clear diff cover and when you start to see stress cracks it gets replaced.

Yeah, traction bars in the pics, plus 2 (one per side) that bolt to the frame and u-bolt plate. Keeps the suspension rigid.
