Im startin a buggy build and its outta parts i have laying around for the most part, have a king pin hp dana 60 front, 42 tsls, ford 460 c6 and np205... prolly go to 35 spline outers when they stockers pop, my real ? is what de's everyone think the strongest rear axle is, i have 2 dana 60 rears but was thinkin of a 14bolt or dana 70? any thoughts

PISS on a 60 rear.....your gonna need two! I bought a Toyota truggy up in Indiana two years ago and took it to the Badlands. Broke a 60 rear withing the first hour. Brought it home and pulled it out and put in a 14 bolt.....then broke everything else. Thats with a Toyota 22R 4 banger.

Put the 60 under it with 35 spline axles and you will be just fine

thanks, my buddy donated a 14bolt to me tonite for the project so i will run with that...see if its all that ya'll claim, im runnin 2 steer rockwells in my jeep now and the same buddy thinks im crazy for goin with tons under this buggy, he thinks rockwell all the way but im hopin to save some weight

good choice on the 14 bolt :woody: i just got one after learning i could break a 60 on command :gay:

im lookin for some scales to try and weigh them, I was lookin in the Jegs catalog at Wilwood master cylinders, i didnt know there was so many choices, whats everyone using for bore size with stock Ford Dana 60 calipers? im gonna put rear disks on the 14bolt too using 1/2 ton chevy calipers

60 rear is pretty weak. It's 3/4 ton rear.

14 bolt is stronger and it's enough for most people.

Dana 70 is stronger than 14 bolt but more expensive to build.

14 bolts break also :dblthumb:

I know nothing is unbreakable, I was just lookin for strongest stock axle, looks like the 14bolt still wins that and there is alot of em around for spare parts, if i have problems down the road i will upgrade the shafts but i gotta spend that money elsewhere on shox, orbital, brakes etc. I just found a set of edelbrock performer rpm's and matching intake and roller rockers/cam for the 460 too! they mite be hard to pass up...cuz who doesnt like more woopow!
