Switching my bouncer to 373s dnt know much about which brand is better? Also how tight are ya setting backlash with bouncers I was thinking .0002?

Dana / Spicer they have been in the game a loooong time.

Richmond pro gears are the strongest out there I have seen one person in general i installed a set in the front of there buggy backlash set at .010 (dana 60) and they broke 6 or 7 sets of RCVs and the gears still looks good when he sold the complete axle and upgraded to a dana 80 front that's just IMO

So I never really thought about backlash / strength until this thread....and reading some of these numbers thats pretty scary close! I suppose i'm just used to running bigger BL numbers in daily driver/weekend warrior/race car stuff. The rear end gets some pretty crazy heat numbers so you gotta account for the expanding metals.

To many zero's, at that number there wouldn't actually be any backlash. I would shoot for .006" - .010"

I asked my drivetrain guy about closing up the backlash. He said you needed some or it would wear the gears too fast and would also not allow fluid between the gears creating too much heat. He sets mine at .008. I would have the carrier turned down so it would be true. Easier to get same backlash all the way around.

Ok thanks for the input I knew you needed some just didn't know we're the tolerance was

Cryogenic treat the gear set before the install. I went through 2 R&P's in my HP front before I cryoed the last set. No problems now. Almost no backlash for mine. Yukon gears the last 2 times.

The back lash is so when the gear gets warmed up it doesn't bottom out in the set, and to still have a place for some fluid also. With no back lash you will see cracks and hear it whine.
