Anyone out there running a Super Duty hp 60 on the front of a tj or Cherokee? Probably will just find a CUCV 14 bolt for the rear and cut off the lip for clearance. Getting rid of my buggy and going to something that I can have fun on and off road with my family.

So are there any issues with this setup? I know the bolt pattern is metric, thought I would just put adapters on them and probably run the HUMVEE wheels and tires.

Just get a sterling 10.5 prolly came out of same truck bolt patterns match and nearly as strong as a 14 bolt

Yeah but the 14 bolt already has the gears and locker. Just add the disk brakes

There's not a lot of tube to work with on the driver's side, but it can be done. There was a guy on Pirate that had one in his XJ, had a lot of good tech in his thread. (Screen name was maybe something like Ashmanxj?) As for the bolt pattern just have the unit bearings re-drilled. There's plenty of meat there for it.

I run a Dana 50 and sterling 10.5 out of an excursion in my jeep, haven't had any problems with them yet. I had to cut about 3 inches of the cast off the drivers side of the diffrential housing to be able to weld a link mount on the axle tube though.

Don't most 10.5 have disk brakes.
Yes but they are on the back and hang down low so it's easy to snag a brake line

Nevermind, I think I will just run CUCV axles and swap in a dana300 tcase.

Im building a rig with 99-04 SD axles, from experience.....make sure you weld the center sections to axle tubes and you can cut out about 2.5" of the casting on dr side, I would run the matching sterling just so the lug patter matches and just weld the diff up, they are damn near as strong as a 14 bolt, both run 1.5" shafts and if you look at the machining on the 2 axles the 14 bolt gets necked down about 40thousands skinnier in one spot, not trying to say its stronger just saying its a under rated axle, not to mention you can find a set of these for about a grand complete with disc brakes front and rear. good luck with your build, I can post pics of how im setting mine up if you need ideas

If you live anywhere near northeast texas, there is a company who sells all axles for $250. Most of these are oil and gas trucks f250s and 350s. They are posted up on dallas craigslist.
