got a new suspension for the truck hoping to get some more flex. gutting a few more things on the truck besides the suspension. the first thing for the truck was the rear driveline diconnect. fairly easy just a little grinding on the case and getting the shifter up front with the rest.

the next thing is the suspension. changing out the springs with some that have what they called orbit eyes in them. here are some pics of the back which i finished.

just like my last springs they came with 9 leafs in the back which was to stiff for me so i took out three, then took out three for my old stock springs and cut to make blocks to keep same ride hight. keeping the ones i took out so when the spring get to soft i can just put them back in.

orbit eye

onto the front. got it all apart

before i get to the font suspension i changed out the hub and steering arm knuckle studs to some stronger ones.

i also changed the spindle bolts to studs

worked on puting it all back together so i can finish the suspension. here is the knew front hangers, big difference.

the hangers where a pain you can see that they have a triangle bend in them which have to go to the inside. i recomend boxing the top or you will have to cut into your frame.

cut that brake plate thing, with that cut and puting studs in made it very easy putting that part of the knuckle together

moved my axle about an inch forward which puts my drag link and tie rod right next to each other but not enough to move steering box.

Well illustrated write up, and it looks like your building a pretty sweet rig. Have you used one of those driveline disconnects before? I have not, and i'm just curious how well they perform. I have heard about it disconnecting when its not supposed to, etc... I hope it works out well for you. Please let us know once you get a chance to test...

havent used one before. the shifter moves in and out very easy so am goting to make some kind of arm to lock it in.

dont look much different from before, it did level it out though. the back was a little saggy

its only the pasenger side took out the top of the door a while back. making it a half door took me ALL day and dont plan on doing the diver side until i have too.

Why did you do the passanger side first instead of the drivers side?

i went around a pole which was next to a hill and the top of the door hit the top of the pole which dug into the window frame and destroyed it making it usless. it was either make a half door or take it off.

I see, coulda just replaced it though

Looks good, However i see a future problem. Ive known several people who run those all pro rear spring perches. Every one of them has deformed/failed..You may want to beef the heck out of it before there wasted.

Just trying to help.

do they not make those perchs out of 1/4 inch steel any more. i will just in case

I know they made 2 versions, The first ones and the 2nd ones. You have the 2nd ones with the tab going down the middle. It will still bend. Beef it up so you dont ruin yer new springs. Also check the bolts every time out, A particularly abusive friend of mine (down south brian)stripped the fine threads off his bolts.
