Ive surfed the classifieds for years and come across jeeps time to time that appear to be sway back. Hood looks like it angles up instead of slightly down.

Is this a bent frame due to a hard landing on the front end? Poor craftsmanship? Crazy illusion?

I know it would help if I had a pic but i never save them. came across one on cl other day that appeared a lil outta wack.

Not sure of the ad you saw mine is not for sale but my hood does sit a little higher due to fitting in a larger radiator and low ride height. That and the heavy girl has been off the ground a time or two.
But yes if it was jumped a lot I could see it happening.

CJ's look like this because the hump in the hood gets taller toward the front....YJ's were more flat looking...TJ's are more sloped downward toward the front.

Sway back could be caused from a bent frame or can look like it from the misfitment of tube fenders or grill that would hold the hood up more than normal.

I have seen bodies bent also....look around the door openings of the tub for wrinkles.

the frame is bad about bending in the front right at the leaf spring mount -

Jr Hall's bent so bad that it had to be cut, pulled down and reinforced with a plate - my old CJ frame had a slight indication of it so I plated it and never had any more issues

Had a scrambler that did this. It happened when all the weight came down on front end from about seven feet in the air. CJs have weak frames and seems to be the worst about doing it.

But yea it had a light nose up look for sure but I wheeled it for a while after that incident and never seemed to get any worse but I didn't jump it off Big Egg either :cougar:

Here is a pic of the frame on JR's old rig, needed the extra clearance when we 4-Linked it. Also plated the inside just for good measure. Has held up great...
