Wanting to go automatic. Called PTC and he can build me a converter that will work. Been looking into different combos and a th350 with a dana 300 has just about the same gear ratios I have now. They are a little taller but that will work out even better seeing as how I won't have to clutch it anymore.I have sammi trans and transfer in it now. The only time I ever use low and 1st is when I'm creeping up a Creek trail or something and never want to touch the clutch. It's like driving a twin stick yota. Any other time I stay in high and start off in 1st. My question is... If I go auto trans, do I want to keep that low low gear or try and get something a little taller seeing how the torque converter will do all the slipping for me when I'm creeping around on rocks?For comparison. With the sammi stuff in 1st:low is 8.22:1 and 1st:high is 5.08:1. With th350 and Dana 300 1st:low is 6.60:1. If I went th350 and np205 it's lowest ratio would be 4.94:1 which is almost exactly the same 1st:high with sammi ****.
