I picked up a 5.7 TBI out of a 87 light duty 3/4 ton suburban to put in my 77' K5. The motor is complete and I removed the entire wiring harness and fuel system from the donor truck.

My question is will it work with my 4 speed?

How do I ditch the AIR and EGR ? (I want to run headers)

What if i want to go 383ci ? (Torque :cheer: )

It'll work fine with a 4 speed. Only difference is some minimal changes in the fuel and spark tables. You could swap out your auto tranny eprom for a manual one but I doubt you would notice much of a difference.

I would leave the EGR operational. Removing it really doesn't gain you anything and requires some programming changes to eliminate. There is a post in the tech section from a couple weeks ago discussing this. I'm not sure about the AIR system.

Thanks! :D

I yanked my air system off with no negative effects. Just seal up any vacuam hoses or ports that remain unsealed after yanking the stuff. Also, slap some headers on there and eliminate the air ports.

I see there are some performance mods out there for the TBI. Are any of them worth it ? I'm used to Carbs and having seemingly limitless power adders for cheap. I was looking at the Nos Setup for TBIs' so I have enough for the deep holes and snow bashing.

I hear the TBI spacer helps some,

just mount a leaf blower under the hood :redneck:
