I have a cj7 buggy with a poor running lt1 fuelinjected 350. I cant seem to get it right so im thinking about swaping intakes and puting a tbi setup. I have done ls swaps before and they are easy but my intire buggy is setup sbc and everything would hsve to change to go ls.any ideas why not tbi? Just wondering

Define poor running. What have you tried to remedy the problem?

LT1 setup isn't bad aside from the optispark. They dont like water, so in an offroad rig it kinda sucks worse than on a street car. There is a company that makes parts to convert over to a LS computer and coil packs and completely do away with the opti.

My lt1 has an aftermarket wiring harness and has little power and a skip. The computer is not sending out a signal to the obd port so no scanner will comunicate with motor. I hate chasing problems and i dont know where to start. I have checked ecm wiring and spark, changed plugs and checked fuel pressure. What else is there i would like to fix my lt1 but changing intakes and using a tbi system is easier to figure out.

Last I knew unless its an OLD harness, I don't know of any aftermarket harnesses made for the lt1s. Probably just a stock harness re-worked. Check out lt1swap.com. They have all of the diagrams. Compare to what you have and try to get the obd port working.

In going to bet the opti is taking a dump after going back and re reading your post. Those things HATE water. The weep hole in the waterpump will drop on the crank pulley and throw water up into them and kill them quickly.

I run a LT1 in my ring that I bought a few years back and it has been the best thing about it. I had an Opti spark go out and it would miss and just run like crap when I got in it hard. I put a new vented GM opti in it and took it apart to put slilicon everywhere fully sealing it. I have had the motor submerged twice with no issues. I have a Painless harness on mine. I got a LS2 for my new build but got a new respect for a built LT1 after seeing the yellow CJ shread those 44 boggers on cable hill at Fall For All.
