I got my truck running, this is the 22rte swap to 22re! I used a ecm from a 86 toy, not sure of 2wd or 4wd! All the gauges work except the temp gauge! Is it possible that the ecm is the cause of this? I know toyota's have many guage options including some that have just speedo and fuel! Would this be the problem or they all will work? No matter what guage option? I know the wires are good from connection to the ecm plugs! Either that or the gauge or wires in dash are bad! Any ideas would be awesome!

They all have a temp gauge, so the sender is the same whether you have the basic gauges or deluxe ones... the temp sender for the gauge doesn't go through the PCM as far as I remember....

The sender itself is in the intake manifold, between the plenum and the valve cover... there's a bunch of wires in there, but look for the sending unit as it only has one terminal on it... make sure you have it connected up, cause it's easy to miss.

Is it the one that connects to the sensor that screws in the top of the t-stat housing? I know of a single terminal that is where your talking about, there was one wire that wasn't connected when I got the truck, but the wire looked like it has never been hooked up to anything.

Nope, I can't remember what the T-stat housing one does... maybe something to do with A/C, I can't remember.

The temp gauge sender is further back... it screws into the intake manifold right near the surface that mounts to the head. Lemme see if I can find a pic.

Well, we figured it out! As it turns out, all I had to do was plug in the wire! :looser: What I did was, if it wasn't hooked up when I tore it all apart, I didn't put it back together. Good logics wasn't it? I'm still looking for that damn turbo sensor the FSM says that should be on the passenger fender well!

Between that and how vague the FSM is in various areas. And this was one of them!
