I have a TH-350 in my crawler, that keeps blowing fluid out the vent. I do not have a plastic vent tube on it. It is just the hole in the side of the housing. I have an external Deral fan cooler on it also. When the tranny temp gets warm it will blow it out the hole on to my exaust an smoke like crazy. Has even flamed up before. I run a Autometer guage in my trans pan an it has never got over 210 deg. I thought it was over full. But have checked it an was accually a little low. What could be the cause of this? An where can I get a fitting to go in the vent hole an run it up my fire wall to get it up higher? Thanks for the help.
It has a 2500 stall with a TCI reverse manual valve body, I was running a 1800-2000 an it was still doing the same thing.

I tap the case with a 1/8" pipe tap and use a 5/16" barbed fitting. Put grease on the tap to keep ahold of the shavings. You do not need to drill it at all trust me.

As far as your fluid drainage it could be over filled. Worse case a cracked case causing cross leaks. Another thing what stall converter it may be to big for your application and heating up and spitting fluid out.

It is a TCI Manual Valve body with a 2500 stall. I had a 1800 -2000 in it at first, but it still done the same thing. It is a Cooks Racing trans, should I call him an ask him what he thinks? The trans only has about 3 rides on it.

I had one built for a CJ I had with a small block 400 and 1800 stall. Took it out the first ride did what your is doing, caught it on fire probably 5 times that wknd at Tellico. Came home tore the tranny out thinking it was to much stall and letting it heat up to much, found a torn gasket under the valve body. Went through the trans again, this time myself. Put it back together and never did it again. But I also didn't reuse the stall. But there are tons of rigs with very high stalls out there, as long as u :dunno:r not "stalling" it constantly your temp shouldn't get to crazy.
Hope this helps.

I didnt think was that bad. Or is it?

Theres probably a lot more knowledgeable folks on the subject on the board. But I have also heard a worn pump can cause the fluid to push out, make sure you have the correct dipstick for the pan your're running, to make sure ur not overfilling. Ive heard several folks say they ran a hose and catch can , but that would be just a band aid I would think.

I run a TH350 and 2400 stall converter. Never had an issue like this. If its not over filled I bet something is wrong inside. Good luck, the only thing more complicated than a woman is an automatic transmission!

If your engine is wore out or to big a cam with no compression and little torque and tall gears With the manual vb you must shift it like a stick. Start off in 1st and go thru the gears. If not the converter will fluid shear and basically boil the fluid in the converter and cause it to puke. Just a lot a variables to check.

Yeah same here I have a th-350 reverse v-body and a 3500 stall never have fluid heat or spitting issues at all in mine I am running a 205 case and 44in tires so I thought it would get hot but it never gets over 180

The whole rig is brand new, I just finished building it. I has a brand new 355 on pane, Rockwells an 203/205 doubler, With 42 inc tires. So wore out engine or tall gears are deffinatly not the problem. I was running a smaller cam with a 1800-2000 converter. We changed the cam an went with a 280/480 lift still not big an went to a 2500 stall. But then again it did the same thing before I ever changed any of the stuff mentioned.

I am running an trans pan that hold 2 extra quarts of fluid. Could I not use the same stick that would go in a regular pan? I dont see that 2 extra quarts would read ant different than a stock pan. What ya think? Im not sure I could be wrong.
