I wouldn't get the cheapest one you can find that's for sure but no need to spend a fortune on it

A drain plug is nice don't do aluminum if the pan is exposed on the bottom deeper holds more fluid if you have room but a cooler adds fluid as well so that doesn't make as much difference as people think IMO

Yeah I'm Larry about the thin aluminum ones , with the bolts dimpling and leaking, or hitting something. The one I have now is not a problem being leaking being cast.. But I cracked it.. And patched it with jb weld on the outside. It's holding, but the 70 dollar autometer trans temp guage that I got pissed and cut off because it was hitting my drive shaft is leaking. Go ahead and laugh it up! I would!! Haha. I ain't tellin how I cracked it. I'd never hear the end of it. Just know one thing.. This cracker ain't NEVER tappin another oil pan. **** on a temp guage for trans.. dam thing has cost me more headaches than I would ever imagine !! :****:

I bet the story starts with I smoked a doobie and then.... :flipoff1:

I have always ran a deep aluminum finned pan, my temps are typically around 170-180 and never get over 200.

... drilled a 1/4" hole and tried running a 1/2" npt tap through with a 1" drive impact.
Amiright?

Ok i may as well spill the beans. Well I check the pan when I took it off to make sure for Clarence So I thought .. After about two days I finally got the pan tapped and the temperature gauge in ready to install .. I get the pan up and all of the bolts in , and almost all of them snug. When I hear a pop .. I guess something just barely hit with the guage thing and the cast Pan cracked. It's a crack about an inch long That is so tight it would take a while for water to even drip through it So I skipped it up and use JB Weld, and then covered that with RTV,. THEN I went to put front driveshaft on . And it was hitting the end of the cable that stuck out of the Pan, I could not bend the cable at that spot, So that meant the whole had to be plugged .. I was trying to leave to go ride , looked for about 30 minutes for a plug .. And said to hell with it and cut the temp guage, the dam front drive shaft grazes it when it spins. .. . It has held and my Dumass even went to Choco with it like that.. But it's got to be a time bomb and is leaking now around the gasket.. I sure as hell ain't putting a new gasket on and leaving that.
So I started reading about them last night. They say the thin ones will dimple at the bolts if tighten to tight (DEF me) and that all rubber gaskets suck balls.. To get a cork one, and that the best ones were the black paper like material ones.
Oh and before I did all that i burned.. :flipoff1: eat a booger Shelbs

Get a lubelocker gasket. There's probably a testport on the driver side that your temp probe will fit.

If your pan is exposed, cut a piece of plate 3/16 or so that fits the bottom of the pan real well, maybe even bend up an edge or 4 if you wanna get fancy.

Clean the pan and plate, slather a tube of RTV silicone (I prefer Ultra Black permatex) on it and slap the plate on the pan. Take a floor jack and some blocks, or rig up some other **** to hold the plate in place while the RTV cures.

Good to go , and you won't knock holes in your pan.

Works on engine oil pans also.

Haha I dunno but I dam unloaded, and hauled ass back home to get it.. And still beat the sun up. God I felt weird.. After a hour of Nate tryin to talk me into riding with no skid plate. Hahah just atlas hangin down. Ha.

Tranny pan bolts take very little torque to tighten... 15 lbs will do it, 20 is a fuzz too much, & 25 will bend a stock pan everytime :****:
