getting out of the toyota business and getting a buggy. I liked the **** outa
Greg's this weekend and something along those lines would work $$$ wise.
Toy on 36s just isn't fun some of the places we have been/plan to ride.
Thoughts?

Here is the email I got from the guy that built Greg's (Jim's Garage)

Yes, I built Greg's buggy.

Your looking at 2800-3000 for a chassis. All dom, I use .188 wall for the rockrails and main overhead stuff. It keeps the chassis from getting all dented up.

Chassis price includes tube, everything after that is labor only.

Another $4500-5500 to do all the mounts, sheetmetal, everything that goes on it before powdercoat and take it apart. Powdercoat is 400-500 for a basic color, metalflake and clearcoat is extra-there is no way I will ever paint one.

Reassemble, wire, plumb, all the nicknack stuff to finish it $2800+

Right now I'm booked till the middle of next year, but there's always a good chance someone will back out. If you want a turnkey rig. it will take at least 4 months to build.

All the motors I have used have come from salvage yards, or wrecked vehicles. I would start looking around for a lower milage ls1. Greg has one of these:

It's lasted about a year and a half so far. From my experiance auto trans is a shot in the dark, no mater how much you spend, so I'd just get one of these. Several others in our club have them too. Only one has had any problems, and it had the **** beat out of it before it lost 1st gear.

12k on the high side for all the labor and that includes the chassis materials. **** dollar you have enough vehicles and parts to sell you could have the money for all the bling parts in less than a month ;D

You fawkers going to buggies are gonna make me do the same :flipoff1:

Just thinking out loud for the moment but all toy junk, I, mean package
deal for everything Toyota, is on the market. Also thinking about parting
ways with the LJ. 2006 LJ Rubicon 6spd. 11,000 miles soft top hard doors.

Selling all the Toy Stuff including all the spare parts you have would net a good bit. Don't you have a Dynatrac 44 laying around? That could net you some coin on the right Jeep site if you are willing to ship it. Man I bet if you really went through and sold all the stuff you don't use you could have enough for a buggy and all the bling parts. It would be worth it in the long run and wouldn't be bad if you held on to something to wheel in the meantime.

I assure you he has enough if he parted ways and committed to ONE rig he'd have enough for a very nice buggy. thumb.gif
