What the differences in axles? Both are toploader and from what I understand you can use the rockwell axles just by changing the seals? Anybody know anything about these?

One kind has the ball and claw people call them they have 5 big balls that lock the shafts together. There is also a birfield looking style those two types suck I've had buddies run both types both failed pretty easy especialy if you run a 10inch ram on them if you run these types you need to run an 8inch ram they seem to last a little longer. Just my opinin and what I've been around. I've ran rocks since 99 and love em.

I it possible to put the ujoint style axles in the timken? Housings are the same? Correct?

There the same the only thing you have to do is replace the seal and seal retainer when you go to the ujoint axel. The chunks are the same the older chunks have a little bit of diference but you have to have a newer one next to the older one to see the diference.

Timken was bought out by Rockwell...same axle, the (claw and ball) is called a Bendix shafts, they came in the early Timken axles...easy swap, if you put a Timken chunk next to a Rockwell chunk you will notice slite casting differences but all bolt holes, gears etc are the same
