I am thinking about removing my rear sway bar on my TJ daily driver. Has anyone done this? I have a little over 4" of lift and sit on 34's. Not looking to haul ass around corners, but do need to be able to get around on the street safely.

Do it. Leave the front one on, or put disconnects on it so you can easily unhook it on the trail. Take the rear out and throw in the trash.

DO IT X2.

Mine is gone. Its been off about a year. There is a slight handling difference, not better or worse just different. The big concern is to keep your stock bar front connected when your on the road. The stock front is so stiff its almost not a sway bar but a solid link; you need this bar for safety reasons. I'm not a big fan of Anti-rocks on the road. (I have rolled a toyota 4x4 on the road; there is a certain chain of events that lead up to a roll over but thats another story).

From a suspension design standpoint a stiffer rear bar causes a car to oversteer or "spin out", a stiffer front bar causes a car to understeer or "plow". So technically removing the rear bar causes more push and a "safer" car

Off road the rear bar is a joke. You loose about 10" of flex and force all the articulation to the front which causes the front tires to constantly jamb into the fenders. With the front disconnected and the rear removed the flex is much more balanced. Go to Reiter and roll up on the stumps and look under your rig: you'll begin to see whats going on.

The arms on short arm jeeps bind-up as articulation increases and this offers resistance similar to a light sway bar.

Mine is a TJ on 35's that runs frequenty on the road and I-5. The only problem I have is the steep arm angles off road cause the suspension to jack up on the inside during sharp turns. This winter a little cuttin' and weldin' will fix that.

I run with both off all the time. I did a 4.5 long arm on mine a couple years ago and left the rear off. The front has disconnects but they are disconnected most of the time. Without swaybars it rides like my old CJ7. It leans around the corners but it is perdictable. unless you are hauling a lot of weight the swaybar isn't needed.
